Reimagined Spaces

Activating underused spaces through the arts

Reimagined Spaces provides funding for communities to activate publicly accessible spaces for the purposes of artistic use and public programming. The program is designed to utilize artists, temporary creative interventions and arts organizations to increase community vibrancy and provide space for artistic expression and public engagement. Eligible projects may include artist studios, pop-up performance spaces, installations, activation of outdoor spaces and exhibition space. A separate application has been added for all mural/public art related projects.

Grant Amount
The total project cost must be at least twice the amount of the grant request. The maximum grant amount is $10,000.

There is a 1:1 match requirement for this program. The matching funds must consist of at least 25% cash expense provided by the applicant; in-kind, non-monetary donations and volunteer hours may be counted up to 75% of the required match.

Who Qualifies
Established 501(c)(3) organizations based in Kansas
Units of local government
Federally recognized tribes

Eligible projects include:

  • Artist studios
  • Galleries and exhibition spaces
  • Performance spaces
  • Art installations
  • Pop-up cinemas

Mural and Public Art projects are ineligible in this category. Please see the mural/public art specific category.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be incorporated in Kansas and in good standing with the state
  • Have fulfilled all outstanding contractual obligations with KCAIC
  • Have a SAM UEI number
  • For Re-Imagined Spaces projects only: submit an initial application by March 1st

An initial application is required for Re-Imagined Spaces projects by March 1, 2022.

Upon review, full application forms will be assigned through Submittable by staff. Full applications will be due March 21st, 2022 for projects occurring July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023.

Application Period
